The revenge that Zus and Tuvia exacted is never justified. Killing someone that has killed someone you know or had harmed them immensely is wrong, even in the situation that the Russian Jews were in at the time. As the old cliche goes, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Nobody has the right to give life or take it away, and even if the oppressors take lives and maim people, that doesn't mean that the people that are oppressed can become animals themselves and do the same.
Thievery is not acceptable under normal circumstances, but stealing things such as food or drinks is acceptable if the person/people you are stealing from have wronged you in a great way. For the most part, those are minor things, and they would not be missed as much as a life or something much more expensive. But, if you are a refugee, why would you steal something that you could not sell? The only practical things would be food and medical supplies. Stealing to live from those that try to take life from you is acceptable because you are living through thievery from those who are trying to kill you.
