Edward looks tired, and has a pained look. He is an older gentleman. his hair is thinning, and has a mustache.His eyes are knowing, but only because he has seen too many bad events in his lifetime.
Edward is very sad, due to his family's deaths or disappearances, and his face says that he knows a lot, maybe even too much about the real world. His memories are painful ones, and when he recalls them he is forced to relive the events. His group was very low with food and water, and were running to a safer place, but in the end his group made a bad choice and took refuge with abusive Arabic nomads.
This person may have escaped from the Arabs, and moved on to live somewhere else. Another possibility is that he was released by the nomads, and led a decent life in another place.
He left a question unanswered: What happened afterwards?
